A charity car auction will be run in primarily the same way as any auction run for any other reasons or gains, except the proceeds will be going to worthy causes. It will still be your responsibility to carry out the necessary inspection of the vehicle, as the maxim of buyer beware will definitely still apply. If you are not, you should find it easier than a standard motor auction, but still be prepared to get there early to get a feel of the auction before you bid.

One factor which a charity auction might have which will not be found in other auctions is the well meaning amateur who is prepared to pay over the odds for a vehicle in support of the charity. Although a charity auction will have the same printed brochure with estimated values, these values are likely to be prone to a greater deviation than usual. If you are intent on making a sensible financial purchase, you will need to be prepared to pull out of any bidding war between enthusiasts of the charity. Set your maximum bid in stone by writing it down, and do not deviate from it. This will prevent you from making an expensive mistake at your charity car auction.
